Pioneers Secure Future in Presque Isle with Multi-Year Commitment

The Northern Maine Pioneers are proud to announce a four-year agreement with The Forum, solidifying the organization’s home in Presque Isle through the 2029–30 season.

This agreement represents a major step forward for both the Pioneers and the Aroostook County community, reinforcing a shared commitment to long-term growth, player development, and high-level junior hockey in Northern Maine.

As part of the partnership, The Forum will expand its hockey calendar, with ice installed prior to Labor Day and remaining in place through the early rounds of the playoffs—providing the Pioneers with a true home-ice environment from preseason through postseason competition.

Building Momentum in Aroostook County

From day one, the Pioneers have been fueled by the energy and support of the Presque Isle community.

“What we experienced this season was special,” said owner Brandon Johnson. “The support from fans, families, and local partners exceeded expectations. This commitment allows us to keep building something meaningful here for years to come.”

The organization’s inaugural season laid a strong foundation—establishing a competitive presence in the National Collegiate Development Conference while forming deep connections throughout the region.

A Full Offseason, A Clear Vision

With a full offseason ahead for the first time in franchise history, the Pioneers are positioned to take a significant step forward on and off the ice.

The extended runway will allow the organization to:

  • Build a deeper, more competitive roster
  • Conduct a full training camp and evaluation process
  • Continue expanding player development resources
  • Strengthen recruiting pipelines across North America

“Our focus is on development and advancement,” Johnson added. “We’re building a program that prepares players for the next level while competing at a high standard every night.”

Continuity and Leadership

Stability behind the bench will be a cornerstone of the Pioneers’ continued growth.

Head coach Jack Lowry and assistant coach Hunter Parker will return for the upcoming season, bringing experience, structure, and a player-first approach to the program.

With a full training camp and preparation cycle ahead, the coaching staff is eager to elevate the team’s performance and build on the foundation established in Year One.

A Bright Future Ahead

As the NCDC continues its rapid expansion, the Pioneers are positioned to be a cornerstone franchise in the league’s New England North Division—combining elite competition with a passionate and growing hockey community.

The message is clear:

The Northern Maine Pioneers are not just here—they’re building something that lasts.
